Network Rail and the Bluebell Railway have signed an agreement which will see further collaboration between the two organisations – the first of its kind with a heritage railway in the south of England.

Following the sentencing at Kingston upon Thames Crown Court today for a breach of the Health and Safety at Work Act etc 1974, relating to the incident at Surbiton on 9 February 2021 where Tyler Byrne tragically lost his life, Network Rail has issued the following statement.

Great Western Railway (GWR) services have resumed running this morning Monday (17 February) on the North Downs Line between Guildford and Gatwick Airport resumed today  after Network Rail engineers completed critical upgrades for the continued safe and reliable running of the railway.

Vital maintenance work taking place on the railway between East Croydon and London Victoria this weekend means there will be changes to train services and extended journey times.

From Saturday 15 to Friday 21 February 2025, parts of the railway between Portsmouth and Havant and Fareham will be closed and rail replacement buses will be in operation, while Network Rail completes critical engineering upgrades to the railway.
